Alpha Flame HD - How to Use / Explanation

Using Alpha Flame HD (afhd for short) is a lot like playing a video game. The buttons you press, and the order you press them in produce different effects. I will try to explain them here. Note: All individual characters surrounded in '' quotes stand for that key on the keyboard.

The Basics
First is the 'x' key. When you press the 'x' key it resets the variables for each filter. This means it resets the filter back to its original state like when you first select it or first start the program. Pressing the up/down arrow keys will change the rate that the filter is changed. Up adds 0.1 and Down removes 0.1, so to go in reverse you would press down arrow a few times depending on how fast you want it to go. Pressing the '[' key turns on the morph feature which just adds a few extra filters on top. ']' key turns morphing off. Press Space to turn on another morphing mode. Press Enter to turn it off. The '1' key sets change negative value to true. This will reverse the value for each pixel. 'c' Turns negative value off. Pressing \ will turn on opposite mode on. This reverses the order of the rgb values. '/' press to turn this off.

Creating images
First to individually create images in frame by frame mode, you must either be using the GUI Launcher, or the terminal, use -s when launching the application. Press 'i' to increase to the next frame. Press 'a' to take a snap shot as a PNG graphic. Press 'j' to take a snapshot as a jpeg graphic. You can press 'a', and 'j' at any time even when not in frame by frame mode.

Creating Videos (Only in Mac Version)
Use the proper options, set the frame rate and press the desired filters in desired order. Press Escape to quit, dialog will come up about file name, click save, wait a while it will output to stdout when complete or alert panel will appear (if using GUI).

Spent a long time trying to figure out why OpenCV would not compile on Yosemite. Figured it out and statically linked Acid Cam VR 1.1 with the libraries so you no longer need the MacPorts version of OpenCV installed to /opt/local for it work. It should work as long as you have the Oculus Runtime.

UPDATE @ Tue May 12 14:48:53 PDT 2015
Bad news, seems apple deprecated and now dropped support for one of the libraries that SDL 1.2 that I used to compile the majority of the games on this site. So that means I have to recompile and repackage the majority of these programs to get them to work on Yosemite. So the last version supported was 10.9.
